Meet the Robinsons is a full-length animated film about three baseball-loving kids who decide to attend the annual Little League Baseball Game unlike everyone else. Although they are not actually the most popular characters among the audience, they do become the lovable ones as the film progresses. Among the main characters are Mike, a poor boy who dreams of becoming a star player like his idol; Danny, a kid who has a big ball right hand and the desire to be the best player in the league; andardy, who has an oddball way of pitching, although he always puts in great effort. The three of them form the basis for the story.
As the name implies, meet the robinsons engages the children in a wonderful adventure. It starts with a rather surreal sight: a talking robin rooster announces that he will be the new coach of the Little League team. But this is just a front, as the real Robinsons (from the original novel) make an unexpected appearance and steal the spotlight as the movie continues. The three lovable characters are given life by the engaging screenplay and the direction of the filmmakers. It is no surprise that the audience may find it difficult to keep their eyes away from the remarkable animation sequence at the end of the film. Meet the Robinsons is just such an animated film that everybody should have a go at least once.
The only thing that could make this film more entertaining is the presence of some live action. Unfortunately, it is not enough to carry the entire film and that is why it fails to gain ratings as highly as some of its animated counterparts. Regardless of this minor shortcoming, meet the robinsons remains as one of the best animated films every made. It is certainly recommended to kids and parents alike.
