The Texas Rangers and Baseball Express

Baseball express is a slimmed down version of Strat-o-matic baseball. Using cards to represent players, charts to represent fielders and dice to represent bats and pitches, the game has a lot of the same action as its bigger cousin. The game includes 42 player cards, 4 dice (d6 and 1d20), playing tray, instructions and cardholder. The game has two expansion packs that contain ten additional current Rangers and select all time great players.

In the second decade of their existence in Arlington, the Rangers finally achieved a measure of success and ascended to the top of the AL West. In 1996, the team made its first-ever playoff appearance and lost a three-game series to the New York Yankees. That season saw the Rangers introduce their current mascot, Captain, who is a palomino horse dressed in the team’s uniform. Occasionally, Captain’s outfit will match the theme of a particular special event or fan day.

For the 2000 season, the Rangers de-emphasized red in favor of blue. The home white uniform featured “RANGERS” in dark royal blue and the red trim was removed from the player names. The road uniform became powder blue, and a new uniform patch was unveiled featuring a circular “TR” minus the circle. A new all-blue cap was also introduced, essentially the inverse of the previous all-red one.

In its Confirmation Order, the Bankruptcy Court approved the pre-petition sale negotiated between TRBP and Baseball Express. Among other things, the Court ordered that “as of the Effective Date, [TRBP] shall be deemed to have assumed and assigned to Purchaser each executory contract and unexpired lease to which the Debtor is a party, except for any Excluded Contracts”. See Def. App. at 334 (Plan, SS 9.1(a)).
