The multi-billion dollar industry of baseball provides a wide range of opportunities for those interested in working within the sport. The professional leagues, minor leagues and amateur teams all have positions to fill. Depending on your interests and professional experience, you can apply for an entry-level position or a management role with a major league baseball team or find employment with one of the many teams at the lower levels of the sport.

In addition to the typical front office jobs available, many minor league baseball organizations have a number of administrative roles. The primary duties of these positions revolve around maintaining and cleaning the ballpark, as well as preparing the playing surface before and during games. These are often non-management positions that allow an entry-level employee to gain valuable work experience and eventually transition into a managerial role.

Another important, and often under-appreciated, job is that of the team physical therapist. The work these healthcare professionals performs is crucial to keeping the players healthy and allowing them to play at a high level. The salary for this position can be quite low, however, because it requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, which means most of the candidates are college students or recent graduates.

A camera operator is responsible for capturing footage of the game, and they are usually hired by broadcasting companies to provide them with shots for television coverage. This job requires a great deal of travel, as you may work at several different ballparks for the entire season.
