A good baseball video can get coaches’ attention and give recruits a chance to shine even before they step foot on campus. However, just like any recruiting tool, it is not a guarantee of a scholarship or spot on the team. Coaches still want to see excellent grades, skills that match their standards and quality references, but a well-done skills video can make a big difference in their decision-making process.
Baseball game tape helps college coaches confirm that the talent they saw in highlights is consistent from game to game. They also use game tape to evaluate a player’s attitude and leadership abilities. Recruits should be sure to have full at-bats or innings of them on the mound readily available for college coaches to request.
For a baseball or softball game that has been streamed and scored together, we automatically generate clip footage for hits (single, double, triple, home run) as well as most out types (batter out, strikeout, fielder’s choice, etc). These clips are accessible directly within the play-by-play and can be viewed, downloaded, shared outside of the app, edited and deleted by Staff from their own Athlete Profile.
Families should always ask permission from a coach before filming them or sending a video to them. Also, a tripod is a must when shooting a baseball video. Unsteady footage is hard to watch and can quickly cause coaches to move on to the next athlete’s video.
