A baseball zentangle is a fun and easy way to add some zing to your art! Baseball tangles can be used as backgrounds or they can be made into borders. This set is also great for Summer themed academic work, fast finishers, bell ringers and independent work in any classroom.
The tangling method of drawing structured patterns is called the Zentangle Method and was developed in 2004 by Rick Roberts, a monk who has a deep understanding of meditation and mindfulness, along with Maria Thomas, an acclaimed calligrapher, illuminast and artist. It’s an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images using a combination of dots, lines, simple curves and s-curves, and shapes like orbs. The patterns are drawn on small squares of paper called tiles.
One of the first steps to creating a zentangle is placing a dot in each corner of the tile, about a pen’s width apart. Then a light pencil line is drawn, straight or curvy, connecting each dot. Then a tangle, a predefined sequence of strokes that form a pattern, is drawn over the pencil lines and within the border.
Dolly created this fun tangle after noticing that spruce cones often resemble roses. This versatile tangle is perfect for a background or it can be ripped around the edge of your composition to create a fun border. Dolly first drew Maggie May in February of 2022 and didn’t develop the stepout until May of that year.
